Nerve Salad Megablast of powerful, epic proggy alt-metal. Ridiculous melodic hammerings, great female vox, superb harmonies, atomic-blast, this-is-your-doom riffage. This is like Yes-meets-Baroness in a dark alley, and subsequently melds into Helms Alee and White Swan. Featuring mems of other bands that are to my liking.

"Dark Numbers' debut album is the shit. Some of it sounds like Alice In Chains if Alice In Chains smoked way more weed and injected far less heroin. Some of it is in the same kinda doom/trad hybrid you get from bands like Khemmis. Two tracks, "Supernova" and "Gravity Well", seem to be haunted. Another, "Fuse", is like an interlude dominated by sci-fi B movie synths. There's a song called "Shallows" good enough to make you forget all about that Lady Gaga shit, and a song called "The Mariner" that includes not only an excellent use of saxophone, but is so depressing I had to stop typing this for awhile as I wept. I've never heard an album that grabs your attention and holds onto it for its whole duration like this one. And it's good, so it always seems like a good idea to let it loop one more time when it reaches the end. Good music for driving at night... impossible to doze off with this playing. profstampede
